A daily feature of Indians Baseball Insider, Around the Farm, obviously won’t be able to be produced until there are minor league games played. In its place, for the time being, a fun feature we are going to try out is This Day in Indians Minor League History. We will do some research and try to find some interesting or random box scores or information that happened in the Indians minor leagues on this particular day. We will try to make this a daily feature as long as we can find something to post other than just repeating items from the last few years to avoid too much repetitiveness. Hope you enjoy, stay well and hope we can get baseball back soon!

The Lake County Captains were off to a slow start in 2012 and fell behind 2-0 in this one on a getaway West Division trip to Kane County. They ended up scoring four runs in the top of the eighth inning to win this contest 11-8.

The Captains got six runs in the fourth inning with an RBI double by Bryson Myles, an RBI groundout by Patrick Tolentino, and Todd Hankins drove in three with a two out double.

Kane County scored five runs off of Lake County starter Will Roberts in the next two innings and he allowed all eight runs the Cougars scored, though only six were earned.

In the eighth inning however, Luigi Rodriguez hit a three run homer and a young shortstop prospect named Francisco Lindor hit his first career home run.

Lindor actually went 0-4 the next game but then collected 14 hits over his next six games. His numbers that year didn’t jump off the stat page but he did have a .778 OPS in the first half and showed he was more than just a good glove in spurts.
