A seven inning contest was no match for the Kinston Indians roughshod run through the Carolina League in 2006, including their potent offense.

Michael Aubrey doubled in a pair of runs and Ryan Goleski hit a grand slam in the first inning to cap a six run inning.

The K-Tribe put a five spot on the board in the fourth inning thanks to a Goleski double and a Matt Whitney three run homer.

Jensen Lewis was the beneficiary of this offense, pitching five innings allowing a run while Giovanni Soto followed allowing three runs in two innings.

Goleski finished with a five RBI day in this one and it earned him Carolina League Player of the Week honors. He earned this honor twice in 2006. He hit 27 homers with a.948 OPS this season.

At age 24, Goleski was rightfully tearing up the Carolina League circuit but then was out of affiliated baseball in 2008. He was considered a good prospect for the Tribe despite being a 24th round pick out of Eastern Michigan. The Oakland Athletics selected him in the Rule 5 draft after this season but he was returned to the Indians and never made it to the show.

He played the 2009 season with the York Revolution but that was it. He hit just .212 in 74 games.

The 2006 K-Tribe won the Carolina League Championship and were managed by Indians third base coach Mike Sarbaugh.
