A slew of games in the Dominican League got wiped out due to the virus but the Mexican League was in full swing on Saturday. The IBI’s Daniel Sherriff takes you Around the Farm.

Leones del Escogido 0, Aguilas Cibaenas 2

CURRENT INDIAN

Francisco Perez (RP, Leones del Escogido) – 0.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R/ER, 0 BB, 0 SO, 1 HR – The lefty only threw one pitch. That ball ended up sailing out of the ballpark for a two-run home run and ended up being the go-ahead hit. Perez then was pulled from the game due to injury.

FORMER INDIANS

Ivan Castillo (DH, Leones del Escogido) – 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB – The shortstop notched his second double of the Dominican League. Castillo’s average remains low but he still boosts a .434 OBP.

Robel Garcia (LF, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO – For the second-straight game Garcia had the game-winning hit. This time he rounded all the bases when he connected on a two-run home run off Perez in the sixth inning.

Ronny Rodriguez (3B, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 0-4, 1 SO – Ronny-Rod didn’t have a very exciting day on Saturday.

MEXICAN LEAGUE (LMP)

Tomateros Culiacan 5, Mayos de Navojoa 3

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan) – 0-5, 2 SO – For the first time in a while Chavez didn’t reach base at all.

Caneros de Los Mochis 6, Venados de Mazatlan 5

FORMER INDIAN

Roman Pena (RP, Venados de Mazatlan) – 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 SO – The southpaw came in to face one batter and promptly struck out that batter in the top of the seventh inning.

Yaquis de Obregon 4, Aguilas de Mexicali 1 – Game 1

FORMER INDIAN

Michael Choice (LF, Aguilas de Mexicali – Game 1) – 1-2, 1 R, 1 BB – The left fielder picked up a base hit in the first game of the double-header. Choice has done a nice job reaching base as he boosts a whopping .489 OBP in the Mexican League.

Yaquis de Obregon 9, Aguilas de Mexicali 8 – Game 2

FORMER INDIAN

Michael Choice (LF, Aguilas de Mexicali – Game 2) – 0-4, 1 R, 1 SO – It was a tough game for the Choice. The left fielder left seven men on base in the second game.
