Once again most of the Dominican League was off today due to postponements because of the virus. Though there was plenty of action in lone Dominican League game of the day. The IBI’s Daniel Sherriff takes you Around the Farm.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE (LIDOM)

Aguilas Cibaenas 3, Leones del Escogido 4

FORMER INDIANS

Melky Cabrera (LF, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 1-2, 1 R – The veteran helped keep the line moving in a two-run first inning for Aguilas Cibaenas. His day was cut short as he was lifted for pinch-hitter Ronny Rodriguez in the top of the fifth.

Robel Garcia (2B-LF, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 0-3, 1 BB, 2 SO – After a series of exciting games Garcia had a tough day at the plate.

Ivan Castillo (DH, Leones del Escogido) – 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SO – The designated hitter came up with a clutch hit in a two-run third inning when Leones del Escogido tied the game up. Castillo has now bumped his batting average up to .286 in the Dominican League.

Ronny Rodriguez (PH-3B, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 0-3, 1 SO – Ronny-Rod came into to pinch-hit for Melky Cabrera in the fifth inning. He had a chance to deliver a game-tying or game-winning hit in the ninth inning with a runner at first and two outs but came up short.

MEXICAN LEAGUE (LMP)

Tomateros de Culiacan 3, Mayos de Navojoa 7

FORMER INDIANS

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (2B, Tomateros de Culiacan) – 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB – The slick-hitting middle infielder continues to be an on-base machine. His walk in the the second inning helped move the train along for Tomateros de Culiacan to put up two runs.

Charros de Jalisco 5, Naranjeros de Hermosillo 4

FORMER INDIANS

Brennan Bernardino (RP, Charros de Jalisco) – 1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R/ER, 2 BB, 2 SO – The southpaw nailed down his third save of the Mexican League but it was a battle. He had trouble finishing off Naranjeros de Hermosillo after getting to outs. Bernardino allowed a pair of of RBI-singles and a walk to bring the game within a run but stranded the tying run on second base.

Sultanes de Monterrey 2, Algodoneros de Guasave 10

FORMER INDIANS

Jeff Johnson (RP, Sultanes de Monterrey) – 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R/0 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO – The righty was on track for a clean inning when a defensive error put a runner on base with two outs. Johnson couldn’t work around the error and the run came around to score on a two-out RBI-double to center field.
