COLOMBIAN LEAGUE (LPB) PLAYOFFS – SERIE FINAL GAME 3 (BEST-OF-7)

VAQUEROS DE MONTERIA 4, CAIMANES DE BARRANQUILLA 2 (VAQUEROS LEAD SERIES 2-1)

FORMER INDIAN

Sandy Leon (C, Caimanes de Barranquilla): 0-3, 1 K – An uneventful evening for the lone Indian on the field last night as his team falls behind in the championship series.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE (LVBP) PLAYOFFS – SEMIFINALS GAME 6 (BEST-OF-7)

CARIBES DE ANZOATEGUI 8, NAVEGANTES DEL MAGALLANES 2 (SERIES TIED 3-3)

FORMER INDIANS

Anthony Vizcaya (RP, Navegantes del Magallanes): 0.1 IP, 1 H – Vizcaya kept an ugly bottom of the fifth from getting much worse, despite allowing one inherited runner to score.

Yohan Pino (RP, Navegantes del Magallanes): 1 IP, 1 H – Pino pitched a solid eighth in his 2020-21 postseason debut.

Niuman Romero (3B, Caribes de Anzoategui): 2-5, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K – Romero rebounded from an 0-for-5 Game 5 to play a crucial role in forcing a Game 7 of this semifinals series.

Henry Martinez (RP, Caribes de Anzoategui): H (1 in the playoffs, 8 overall), 1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB – Except for not striking out a pair, this stat line is a carbon copy of his last outing on Sunday. Also, here’s a fun fact about his seven regular season holds: They all came in consecutive appearances.

TIGRES DE ARAGUA 7, CARDENALES DE LARA 1 (SERIES TIED 3-3)

FORMER INDIANS

Cesar Hernandez (2B, Cardenales de Lara): 2-4, 1 K – Hernandez’s two-hit night is his thirds of the series after coming out of the gate with a hot bat in Games 1 and 2.

Carlos Rivero (3B, Cardenales de Lara): 0-4, 1 E – As hot as Rivero started the semifinals (8-for-13 in Games 1-3), he has gone just as cold in last three contests (0-for-12). More on that error later in this column.

Yonathan Mendoza (PH, Cardenales de Lara): 0-1 – Mendoza finally has his second at-bat of the semifinals series, but it did not result in his first hit.

Yapson Gomez (RP, Cardenales de Lara): 0.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R (all unearned), 2 BB (1 intentional), 1 K, 1 HR allowed – Not a good night on the mound for Gomez, but Rivero’s error didn’t help as Carlos could’ve ended the top of the seventh inning prior to Aragua DH Henry Alejandro Rodriguez’s grand slam.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE (LMP) PLAYOFFS – SEMIFINALS GAME 6 (BEST-OF-7)

TOMATEROS DE CULIACAN 3, YAQUIS DE OBREGON 0 (CULIACAN WINS SERIES 4-2)

FORMER INDIAN

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan): 0-4, 1 K, 1 Sac Bunt – Chavez went hitless for the second time in the playoffs (Game 3 of the semis was the other time.), but still managed a productive plate appearance via an eighth-inning sacrifice bunt.

No former Indians played in the other game, but it is still noteworthy as the Naranjeros de Hermosillo eliminated the Sultanes de Monterrey with a 6-3 victory. If he is not picked up by a finalist as a refuerzo, this would end the LMP season of former Akron RubberDucks closer Jeff Johnson.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE (ABL)

PERTH HEAT 5, BRISBANE BANDITS 0 (7 INNINGS – GAME 1 FOR BRISBANE)

Andrew Campbell (DH, Brisbane Bandits): 1-3 – Campbell extended an on-base streak to three games for the second time this season in the morning contest.

ADELAIDE GIANTS 13, BRISBANE BANDITS 3 (7 INNINGS – GAME 2 FOR BRISBANE)

Andrew Campbell (DH, Brisbane Bandits): 0-3, 2 K – There is a symmetry to Campbell’s game logs: Did not get on base in his season debut, followed by a three-game on-base streak, then one game kept off the basepaths, followed by another three-game streak, and then this 0-for-3 nightcap. By the way, if you’re wondering about the doubleheader against different teams, this past week’s games have been part of a five-team “hub” event in Adelaide involving all teams playing this season except the Sydney Blue Sox (The Auckland Tuatara and Geelong-Korea are sitting out this season.).

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE (LBPRC) PLAYOFFS – SEMIFINALS GAME 4 (BEST-OF-7)

INDIOS DE MAYAGUEZ 3, ATENIENSES DE MANATI 2 (MAYAGUEZ WINS SERIES 4-0)

No current or former Indians took the field on Tuesday afternoon as a semblance of normalcy returned to the proceedings in the Clemente circuit. The Indios swept the series in a seven-inning contest (It would’ve been a doubleheader if Game 5 was necessary.) and advance to the Serie Final against the Criollos de Caguas, which will begin on Thursday (full schedule not available as of deadline).
