CARIBBEAN SERIES – ROUND ROBIN DAY 4
Niuman Romero (3B, Venezuela): 1-3, 1 BB – Romero’s Serie continued on an upward trajectory wit his first hit of the week in Mazatlan on Wednesday.
Yapson Gomez (RP, Venezuela): 0.1 IP, 1 K – Gomez got the Caribes out of the seventh inning with a called strikeout, but the damage was done before Yapson entered the game as the Aguilas had already scored what would be the game’s only two runs.
Robel Garcia (2B, Dominican Republic): 2-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K – Garcia’s two doubles were the only extra-base hits of the early contest for either side. The second one was especially important as it drove in the aforementioned pair of runs.
Giovanni Soto (RP, Puerto Rico): 1 IP, perfect, 1 K – Soto made his 2021 Serie debut with this perfect seventh inning.
Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Mexico): 1-5, 1 K – While not as impressive as his Opening Night performance, Chavez’s Wednesday night did see him end his mini-drought at the plate with a seventh inning single that triggered a mound visit by the Panamanian pitching coach.
