Royals 5, Cleveland 4
Brady Singer (1st-5th innings): MLB rotation arm
Wade Davis (6th inning) Veteran MLB reliever
Jesse Hahn (7th inning): Veteran MLB reliever
Scott Barlow (8th inning): Veteran MLB reliever
Greg Holland (9th inning): Royals closer
Yu Chang (3B-1B): 0-3 – After missing some time because of some neck soreness, Chang struggled to get back on track but has ended spring on a good note overall, though not today. The real curious note is how often he appeared at first base. Some starts at first against LHP to platoon Jake Bauers looks like it might be in play.
Owen Miller (2B): 2-2, BB, R – Miller notched his walk and a hit off of Brady Singer and a double off of Wade Davis. He only faced an average of about 5.0 in Baseball-Reference’s Quality of Opponent score this spring (5.0 is Double-A level talent) but he had a good camp.
Tyler Freeman (SS): 2-3 RBI – Freeman singled off of Singer and singled in a run off of Hahn. His Quality of Opponent score of 6.0 (between High-A and Double-A talent). It is interesting how late in camp he got a chance to get real playing time.
Connor Marabell (DH): 0-1 – Marabell grounded out against Hahn in the seventh in his only at bat.
Alex Call (CF): 1-1, 2 R – Call singled off Barlow in the eighth. He’s played mostly against High-A level talent this spring.
Jose Fermin (3B): 1-1, HR, 2 RBI – Fermin homered off of Barlow in the eighth, impressive with Fermin not being known for power and coming off an MLB reliever.
Will Benson (PR-RF): 0-1 – Benson flew out after Fermin’s eighth inning homer off Barlow.
George Valera (LF): 0-1 – Valera played a lot of centerfield this spring. He played right today and struck out in his only at bat.
Aaron Bracho (2B): 0-1 – Bracho replaced Miller and struck out in his first at bat of the spring.
Brayan Rocchio (SS): 0-1 – While he didn’t get a hit, Rocchio did play against a High-A quality of competition and hit fairly well this spring. He turned a double play with Bracho in this one.
Bryan Lavastida (C): 0-1 – Lavastida is now 0-3 this spring against High-A average of competition.
