Scoreboard

Triple-A: St. Paul Saints 6, Columbus Clippers 4 (10 innings)
Double-A: Erie SeaWolves 10. Akron RubberDucks 5
High-A: Lake County Captains at Great Lakes Loons (Rained out)
Single-A: Salem Red Sox 5, Lynchburg Hillcats 0

Highlights

Kirk McCarty (SP, Columbus): 7IP. 3ER, BB, 6K – McCarty had one of his best starts in terms of strikeouts at Triple-A and one of the few bright lines for Cleveland’s system on Saturday night. He’s done a solid job for an arm that skipped Double-A.

Gabriel Arias (SS, Columbus): 1-3, HR, 2 RBI, BB – Arias slammed a seventh inning two run homer to try to bring Columbus back for a win, and they did get it to extras. But Arias’ homer was to left, where most of his power is usually right-center, so that’s an interesting tidbit. Also another game where he walked but didn’t strikeout.

Alexfri Planez (CF, Lynchburg): 2-5 – The Hillcats were shut out but encouraging that again Planez’s bat has been coming through over the last few weeks.

Oscar Gonzalez (LF, Akron): 2-3, 2BB – Gonzalez extends his hitting streak to 15 games and more importantly maybe, two walks here. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Gonzalez walk twice in a game.

Best of the rest

Alex Call (CF, Akron): 1-5, HR, 2 RBI – Alex answered the Call again with another solid day at the plate to help Akron at least try to get to extra innings for another come back.

Bo Naylor (C, Akron): 2-4 – It has still been a tough go for Naylor so far but it’s good to see him rack up a multi-hit game here.

Skylar Arias (RP, Akron): 1.2 IP, 3K – A solid outing after it wasn’t Thomas Ponticelli’s rough night, although Arias’ ERA is still over 5.00, but he is a reliever so that could be inflated by a bad outing.

Alexfri Planez (CF, Lynchburg): 2-4 – It was a rough night for the Hillcats as they were shut out but Planez had two more hits as his bat has come to life in June.

Andres Melendez (C, Lynchburg): 2-2, 2BB – Melendez had a big offensive tear for a while in May but has cooled off in June. With two singles and two walks, he reached base in all four at bats in this contest Saturday.
