Cleveland manager Terry Francona confirmed this evening that he would be stepping away from his duties as manager for the remainder of 2021 due to ongoing health issues.

Francona will have a hip replacement surgery in the coming days and will need a metal rod in his foot from a previous staph infection to begin the healing process.

Bench coach DeMarlo Hale will take over as manager for the remainder of 2021.
