Richard Polanco (Blue, 3B): 2/3, BB, 2 R – Polanco first reached on a single in the third and advanced to second on the play, but Christopher Espinola was thrown out at home at the same time. However, Polanco himself was able to score on a Taveras single. He reached again on a single in the sixth, ultimately scoring on a wild pitch. He walked one more time in the seventh, but didn’t advance.
Milan Tolentino (ACL Indians, 3B): 3/4, 2 R, 3 RBI, SB, 2B, HBP – Tolentino started his night with a single in the second, then moved up on an error on a pick off attempt and scored on a Richard Paz single. He added a single and a steal in the third, but didn’t score. In the fifth, he was hit by a pitch and came home on Paz’s home run. It was Tolentino who did the major damage in the eighth as he came up with the bases loaded and knocked in all three with a two out double.
Best of the rest
Junior Sanquintin (ACL Indians, 1B): 2/4, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB – Luis Durango reached in the first with a single and stole second, but he didn’t need to as Junior Sanquintin followed it up with a two run home run. This was his sixth on the season and fourth in his last five games. He walked in his next plate appearance in the third and scored on a Jorge Burgos double, then he continued his on base streak with a single in the fifth, after which he scored on a Dayan Frias sac fly.
Richard Paz (ACL Indians, C): 2/3, 4 RBI, R, BB, HR – Paz knocked in his first of four with his second inning single. He added a two out walk in the third, but was stranded. With two on and one out, Paz got the rest of the RBI as he hit a three run shot to center.
Luis Durango (ACL Indians, CF): 2/4, BB, 2 SB, 2 R – Durango continues to run like crazy in Arizona, starting with a single and a steal in the first before scoring on Sanquintin’s homer. He then lead off the eighth with a single and again stole second. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a double.
Esteban Gonzalez (Red, CF): 2/4, R, RBI, 2B – Team Red saw two batters walk to start the first and a steal and wild pitch advanced the first runner. Gonzalez then knocked him in with a single. Gonzalez himself scored on an Emerson Purroy single and Pirates Black error. Ultimately, the Indians Red scored all five of their runs this inning.
Abel Brito (Red, SP): 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K – Brito made the start for the DSL Indians Red yesterday and was very effective. He struck out one in the first, then two in the second to work around two walks and two steals. He hit a batter in the third, then allowed a single, but the initial runner was thrown out at home to end the inning. In his fourth and final inning, he allowed another walk and wild pitch, then an Emerson Purroy error at short allowed another runner to reach. While Purroy got a double play to eliminate his runner, the batter who walked scored an unearned run.
Emilio Taveras (Blue, C): 1/3, 2 BB, 2 R, 2 RBI – Taveras first reached in the second on a walk, then advanced twice on wild pitches. He then scored Blue’s first run on Luis Perez’s double. His next at bat also resulted in a run as his two out single scored Richard Polanco. Taveras walked with the bases loaded for a free RBI in the sixth, but was stranded at second.
Albert Breton (Blue, RP): 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K – Breton joined the game in the fourth with two outs and runners at the corners and managed to pick the runner off first to end the inning without facing a batter. He walked one in his first full inning, but again used a caught stealing, this one the more typical variety, to end the inning facing the minimum. He then struck out one in a perfect sixth, facing the minimum over his 2.1 innings.
Luis Perez (Blue, 1B): 1/3, 2 BB, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2B, SB – Perez knocked in the first Blue run of the game with a second inning double. He walked with a runner on second in the fifth on a passed ball that allowed the runner to score and Perez to reach second. He then stole third and scored on a ground out. He walked one more time in the sixth to load the bases, but didn’t advance.
