Triple-A – Nashville Sounds 8, Columbus Clippers 1
Rookie – Dominican Summer League Indians Blue 11, Dominican Summer League Athletics 3
Rookie – Dominican Summer League Cubs Blue 11, Dominican Summer League Indians Red 2
Adam Scott (Columbus, SP): L (0-2), 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R (unearned), 3 BB, 7 K, 1 WP – Don’t let the individual defeat fool you, this was a solid outing for Scott, who cannot be blamed in any significant percentage for the Clippers’ defeat on night two of the Final Stretch. Adam rebounded significantly from allowing five earned runs in each of his last two starts of the regular season proper with this performance. Hopefully, he can follow it up with one more good one in Columbus next week.
BEST OF THE REST
Steven Kwan (Columbus, CF): 1-5, 1 K – Kwan extended his hitting streak to six games and made a spectacular diving catch on Thursday night.
Daniel Johnson (Columbus, RF): 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 SB – Johnson continued his recent raking on Thursday night and now has 18 total bases in his last five games.
Lexer Saduy (DSL Blue, CF): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB – The colossal margin of victory obscures the fact that the Indians Blue wound’t have even won this game had it been one of the DSL’s many scheduled seven-inning contests. Saduy’s one-out single in the eighth scored backup DH Angel Genao to give the Blue side their first lead of the game.
Erickson Sarita (DSL Blue, RF): 1-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 2 K – Sarita followed with a single that cleared the still-loaded bases. Sarita only got credit for driving in two of the runs as the third scored on a subsequent fielding error.
Emilio Taveras (DSL Blue, backup C): 1-1, 2 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB, Picked Off 1 runner – Taveras put the game out of the Athletics’ reach with a three-run shot to left in the ninth.
Diego Navarro (DSL Blue, SP): ND, 5 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 E – A big reason why the Indians Blue were able to complete their comeback so early in their offensive onslaught was Navarro’s stellar start. Diego’s first scoreless start since August 13 comes on the heels of a similarly dominant performance in his first career relief outing (one hit in two shutout frames last Saturday).
Simon Rodriguez (DSL Red, CF): 2-4, 1 R, 1 K – Rodriguez has multiple hits in consecutive games for the second time in his rookie season (also did it August 9 and 13) to continue a solid September during which he is hitting ,320 and has scored six runs in 34 plate appearances, half of which he has reached base on (eight hits, eight walks, hit by pitch once).
Kevin Rivas (DSL Red, SS): 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI. 1 K – Rivas has also played well this month, slashing .308/.419/.462 with seven RBI.
