Steven Kwan (CF, Columbus): 1-3, BB, HR, 2 R, RBI – Kwan hit three homers in 123 games in 2019. He now has 14 in 72 this year. This qualifies as a significant breakout. If Kwan can become a 10-15 homer, 10-20 steal outfielder, that’s a really good outfielder to have if he’s getting on base at a .340-plus clip to boot.
Ernie Clement (3B, Columbus): 1-3, 2B, BB, RBi – It’s unfortunate Clement got caught up in a numbers game in Cleveland. He was playing pretty well only to get demoted when Amed Rosario returned from the Family Emergency and COVID list. It’s going to be tough for him to hold a role in Cleveland with Amed Rosario, Andres Gimenez, Owen Miller and Yu Chang around. Only 2-3 of them can probably be on the roster. Clement definitely deserves the chance to be a utility player in the majors, but hard to know if he’ll have room to do it in Cleveland.
Trenton Brooks (1B, Columbus): 2-3, 2B, BB – Brooks seemed to be taking off some in Akron earlier this year but he’s looked a lot more like an org hitter like we thought in Columbus. Hard to know if he or Connor Marabell will be manning 1B in the system next year. Neither will probably want to, honestly but someone has to and there’s really not many options.
Fran Alduey (3B, Red): 2-4, 2 R, RBI, SB – The high profile 17 year old infielder has turned it up in September with an OPS over 1.000.
Best of the rest
Simon Rodriguez (LF, Red): 2-4, 2B – The 19 year old OF has a .382 OBP this year.
Felix Polanco (RP, Red): 4IP, 3K – A perfect three innings for the 21 year old left hander.
Reyden Hidalgo (3B, Blue): 2-4 – Hidalgo is 17 and interestingly MiLB doesn’t have a height or weight listed for him. Who’s to say if he’s even real?
