I haven't seen an apology from Clevinger.  I'm guessing he decided he couldn't defend the indefensible, so why try.

Speaking of apologies, I wasn't overly impressed with Plesac's.  It seemed to lack sincerity or realization of the import of his actions.

Good to see Naquin back on the roster.  LHP Logan Allen also added, as Plesac and Clevinger go to the Restricted List.

I don't want to see Clevinger throwing for us this year again and really ever again, regardless of testing outcome. He didn't come forward on his own when the FO made it clear how serious they thought Plesac's misconduct was. He still didn't care and tried to cover it up.

@tondo

It's going to be up to the players in the clubhouse, and most particularly Carrasco.  I think they will determine Clevinger's future.

In Tito's interview in The Athletic, he mostly kept a lid on what specifically was said between him and Plesac/Clevinger. He did make one eyebrow-raising comment, where he said they were at "different stages of acceptance" about the whole ordeal.

Plutko is, as of now, lined up for Clevinger's next start. I wonder a bit if they'll feel the need to ramp up either player after they've cleared protocol.

Clev's apology seemed more sincere than Plesac's in terms of optics. Now sincerity is another question.

For me, Clev needs to land elsewhere. Plenty of time to work a trade for a bat or 2. I would not expect it until the offseason, but a deal in 2 weeks would not surprise.

Plesac breaking protocol is a knucklehead move,no question.
Clevinger joining Plesac in breaking said protocol and then lying to the organization and his teammates about it and then getting on a plane with a fellow member of the rotation who has Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a whole other thing.
I would like to see Clevinger defend his actions to Carlos Carrasco’s wife and kids.

Clevinger has lost any respect I had for him,but who cares about me.
His teammates, on the other hand, will never be able to completely trust and or respect him again.
That’s worse than any fine or suspension.

All for a couple of brewskis.

At the very least, any kind of contract extension, even a team friendly one, would seem to be out of the question for Clevinger now.

Yeah, that one bothers me.  He didn't give a hint as to who was more accepting.  You would hope that both would feel embarrassment and remorse, acknowledge their responsibility to the team, and commit to strict adherence to the protocols going forward.

As to what the other player thinks, one can only guess.  There are those in this country that feel as though having to where a mask invades their right to freedom, sort of like the anti-vaxers.  But, regardless of a baseball players' views, they've all agreed to comply with the protocols.  Those that don't agree shouldn't be playing this year.

I agree, but I tend to think he probably was never going to sign one. I would love to see them extend Beiber, but the more he performs at this level the less likely that seems.

Disappointing to see the continued struggles of this offense. The pitching has been great between all six starters. This team has the pitching to contend in the playoffs, but the lack what feels like at least a few bats and an additional pen arm. That's a lot to ask for in this environment - trade market.

Clevinger is in that late bloomer age group like Kluber was. He'll be 32 years old when he becomes a free agent and has kids(his private life is quite the TMZ story apparently) so logically he would be a prime candidate to sign a team friendly extension. Not so much anymore.

I'm not as inclined to show Clevinger the door as some others apparently are.  That's not to minimize his actions.  He potentially endangered the team's season, impacted the livelihood of his teammates and staff, as well as possibly causing the team's owner to lose $$millions more than he already expects to lose, not to mention endangering lives.  That said, it was one incident.  It's going to be up to him to regain the trust of his teammates and coaches, and based on Plutko's comments, that may not be easy.  But, IMO, he should at least be given the chance.

I'm an advocate for 2nd chances.

Fact of the matter my thoughts are influenced by the incident, the accusations by his ex-wife, his age, and the state of the franchise in light of Lindor's expected departure some time in the next yr plus. I think it's best to move him.
