Bitsko - Kelley - Soderstrom could be there at 23

2 out 3 of or all 3 available at 23.  My choice is Bitsko

Carson Tucker is an under slot get here at 23. His older brother is Cole Tucker of the Pirates I had him at 50. This is a pick all about what they will do at 36

Very disappointed.  Significant change from previous drafts, where they sought highest ceiling players. This looks like a Tyler Naquin selection, or a strategy to use just a fraction of their draft money.  We'll see.

Hey guys.

As always thanks for all the input on the draft. Haven't paid much attention this year.

Initial thought on this pick. It's a punt. Seems underwhelming, but let's hope the "strategy" works out.

Plus side - he is a youngin' and plays up the middle which fits the model.

Random question...

Thoughts on Spencer Torkelson?

This is the worst possible draft to play cute. You go BPA hard on day 1 and manage the rest later.

Tucker is a bunch of 50 tools, who's iffy to stay at SS. Sort of the Bo Naylor of SS. Not sure he's even cracking the top 5 SS prospects in the system lol.

And right after that deflating selection, TB takes us to school and just grabs the obvious BPA still on the board. And Soderstrom after that. Even Sabato and Wells were better selections imo.

Par the course that the second pick will be better than the top pick.

Tucker is worth somewhere between 1-1.5M on talent, but will get twice that. That's bad value for me, really bad value. He's not a bad prospect, just a bad value investment.

I'm hoping for Fulton or Kelley at 36, so that I can pretend that's who they picked at 23 and Tucker at 36 (still too rich there), but won't hold my breath. Everybody else left was not 23rd overall worthy, maybe Cecconi.

If they pick Dingler or Alika Williams, I'm starting to question Barnsby

Pirates' Cole Tucker on his younger brother, Carson: “Carson Tucker can hit. ... He hit in the cage with me and my big league friends and kind of shows us up. He has really good barrel control. He can hit the ball really far…I think the sky’s the limit for Carson Tucker.”

Hate to do this on my first post but, seriously? The org is paying people to make these sort of draft picks? Burns is topped out, no upside. Future BOR SP at best.

At least they saved some money on scouting. Cole Tucker did a scouting report on his brother for free.

Really like Burns. Tucker is a decent prospect too, but they bought high on both, so overall day 1 has been underwhelming.

Kelley, Fulton, Santos, Hence, Cole Henry at 56 would be nice, but I expect an all age pick like Carson Montgomery, Blaze Jordan, David Calabrese or Ricky Tiedemann

Could Burns be a factor in 2020 in the Indians bullpen???

I agree with Tondo's takes on Tucker. The Indians do sign a lot of guys like Tucker out of the Caribbean so I can see why they value him more than other teams but he's not a 1st rounder. He is quick, twitchy and projectable with plus bat speed and upside and while I think he looks a little rough at the plate, if things click with him he could look really good but that's the stuff you normally say about 2nd round picks. It was a real kick in the nuts watching the next pick, the lowest revenue team in MLB (TB) breaks the bank taking a guy that looks like a young Curt Schilling (Nick Bitsko, my goodness does he look good!). Man, my disappointment was on the level of my feelings when we took Tyler Naquin years ago. Tucker has real upside and I understand why the Indians like him but it looks like a dollar saving selection.

I could write a book about Tanner Burns. I'm going to have a lot of fun rooting for him b/c I have loved watching him pitch at Auburn for the last few years. At times, he looked like he belonged in MLB but he has short-comings and I was not even a believer of him in the 2nd round b/c he's not my type of pitcher but I will have fun rooting for him. I really think Indians fans will like him if he makes the majors. Really good kid from the south. I'm actually pretty happy the Indians took him even though I don't like his profile and wouldn't have risked my reputation as a scouting director taking the guy. I'll be the first to buy his jersey.

I think where the Indians selected tonight was not in a good part of the draft. The strength of this draft is the depth and we'll see that tomorrow. I have been more excited about rounds 3-5 (and potentially FA's too), so not a good start tonight but tomorrow is where the draft could be made.

MLB Network did a really good job tonight. I could listen to Dan O'Dowd and Tim Corbin talk about baseball all day long, every day of the week!

Got a chuckle out of this! Good to hear from you, Rocky. Hope all is well.
