VENEZUELAN LEAGUE (LVBP) PLAYOFFS – SEMIFINALS GAME 2 (BEST-OF-7)

MAGALLANES 2, CARIBS 1 (SERIES TIED 1-1)

ARAGUA 5, LARA 4 (SERIES TIED 1-1)

FORMER INDIANS

Niuman Romero (3B, CARIBS): 2-3 – Romero had two hits that could have sparked rallies to help his team overcome the early 2-1 deficit, but the team couldn’t mound much offense around him.

Cesar Hernandez (SS, LARA): 2-5, R, – Hernandez did his part with key hits in the seventh as the Cardinals tried to make a late comeback and is providing a nice playoff spark for his team.

Carlos Rivero (3B, LARA): 3-4, RBI – RIvero continues to hit the ball well in the series, posting a .625 average so far.

Yonathan Mendoza (PH, LARA): 0-0 – Mendoza came on to pinch hit in the 9th to lay down a successful sac bunt.

AUSTRAILIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE

Adelaide 2, Brisbane 1

Melbourne 9, Canberra 7

FORMER INDIANS

Mitch Nilsson (1B, Brisbane): 1-1 – Nilsson collected a hit in his only at bat in the game but then was removed from the game after that. We’re not sure if that was due to injury or if they were just trying to inflate his batting average since his 1.000 batting average in this game brought him to a whopping .100 on the season.

Andrew Campbell (DH, Brisbane): 1-3 – Campbell isn’t faring a ton better early in the ABL season than Nilsson. His one hit in three tries in the loss brought him to a .125 average.

Samad Taylor (2B Canberra): 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI – Taylor’s two out double in the ninth accounted for his two RBI and were part of a five run ninth in the valiant, but fruitless comeback for Canberra.
