Weather wreaked havoc on the DSL Indians Blue schedule over the last week as they were only able to get in seven of the eleven scheduled games, going 4-3 in those games they were able to finish. Even among those, they had games ended early twice due to rain. This should lead to a rough time the last week of August and first week of September when they have to make up the suspended games as double headers. Of the suspended games, they are currently tied in two, losing in one and winning in one, so things are completely up in the air, but as it stands they are tied for first in the DSL Northwest with the Red Sox Red.

Player of the Week
SP Diego Navarro: 17 IP, 14 H, 2 R, BB, 16 K
Navarro has had a ridiculously strong start to both the season and his career and nearly all of that came in this two week span. He didn’t actually pitch all those innings in those two weeks as one start was the completion of a suspended game that he started earlier this year so it would appear he made both starts in a double header even though he didn’t. That being said, his 20/1 K/BB ratio is incredible and he has allowed just two earned runs in 21 innings across five starts.
RHRP Albert Breton: 4 IP, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K
Breton had a rough start to the season, but has been great in long relief over his last three appearances, two of which have occurred during this time period. He has been piggybacking Kenny Pinto’s starts and Pinto himself has been very successful of late, giving the Indians Blue one effective starter made of two separate pitchers.
SS Angel Genao: 5/20, 6 R, 5 BB
The stat line above includes Genao’s performance in the four suspended games because if you don’t include those games no offensive player had enough at bats to even be considered. With all the players listed at short stop on this roster, Genao has been the one player to man the position most regularly and he has been one of the most consistent offensive performers as well as a table setter. He has shown almost no power, but regularly walks, steals and scores to start up the engine of the Indians Blue offense.
1B/3B Maick Collado: 1/17, R, 5 BB, 3 K, RBI
Collado has provided a little bit of value for the Indians Blue with his walks, but he didn’t hit safely in August until his final at bat of the week. While most players on this roster are constantly being shuffled in and out of the line-up, Collado has managed to play nearly every day due to his versatility with time spent at DH, first and third. Using him in the prime offensive positions, however, is questionable at this point as he has just two extra base hits and is hitting under .200 on the season.
SP Jose Contreras: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 4 ER, 9 BB, 4 K
Contreras didn’t officially appear in a game during this time period until the second game of the double header Friday, but he gave a terrible performance on August 5th that will make it difficult for the Indians when they finish the game on August 30th. In the first, he allowed three walks, a wild pitch and two steals leading to one run, then a single, two walks and three wild pitches leading to two more runs in the second. He was pulled from the game after this inning and didn’t appear in a game again until eight days later. In that start he continued to have control issues with four more walks, a hit batter, wild pitch and steal allowed.
